ONRUSH heralds the return of all-action, gravity defying, arcade racing. For ONRUSH fans who want to continue playing, offline modes will continue to be available. With player numbers in online modes dropping to low levels, we will be shutting down the servers from November 30, 2022. Thanks to everyone who has supported our game – it’s been a RUSH. Around this same time Electronic Arts updated their Online Services Shutdown page with the following announcement: The removal was most likely tied to the game’s usage of GameSparks for its online features which shut down on September 30th, 2022. ONRUSH would remain available until it was delisted on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One close to September 18th, 2022. The Xbox One version was eventually patched and relisted on January 7th, 2021. We found no confirmation that the game was temporarily removed from sale during that time. Codemasters tweetĪ commenter confirmed that the PlayStation 4 version received its security update in September of 2020. During this time, ONRUSH has temporarily been removed from the Xbox Store. This only affects players on the Xbox family of devices. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience, and we will compensate all players with free in-game virtual currency. Players can continue their progress in the single-player game modes. ONRUSH on Xbox is currently in need of a security server update, meaning multiplayer will shortly be unavailable until December. Gamers interested in seeing what Codemasters has been working on as of late should tune into the new Need for Speed game reveal that's slated for October 6. The loss of Onrush's online functionality doesn't seem to be a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, then, and the lessons Codemasters learned while working on it are bound to be applied to its newer projects. Since its acquisition, Codemasters has moved on to developing Need for Speed in conjunction with Criterion, and the rumor mill surrounding the next franchise entry is already working overtime, with leaks suggesting a bold new entry for the series. In fact, Onrush was inaccessible on Xbox for a while when a security exploit was discovered, forcing Codemasters to remove it from sale until the issue was resolved. The game is available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles, and it never came to any of the other popular platforms. One of the potential reasons behind Onrush not having a player base in 2022 is that it only launched on a limited number of platforms. ![]() While it is a shame that this is happening, it's worth pointing out that all of Onrush's offline functionality will remain available, allowing players to enjoy the game's single-player content. With two years having gone by since EA acquired racing game developer Codemasters, Onrush seems to have been given time to try and find its niche, only to fail in doing so as time went on. The game's player base has slowly plummeted over time, however, and it has only taken a few more years for EA to decide that keeping Onrush's multiplayer servers live was more trouble than it was worth. When Electronic Arts acquired Codemasters, all of the developer's previous projects moved over to the new publisher's umbrella as well, with Onrush being one of the active multiplayer titles. Originally launched back in 2018, before EA acquired Codemasters, Onrush is an arcade combat-focused racing game where the primary goal isn't necessarily to get from point A to point B the fastest, but rather to complete a variety of objectives while competing with the enemy team. Electronic Arts has just announced that Onrush will shut down its online multiplayer servers on November 30, 2022. ![]()
